Williamstown Murder: Phryne Fisher Mysteries

Once again, The Honourable Miss Phryne Fisher finds herself embroiled in a perplexing mystery! She wakes up unusually early one morning with some rare free time on her hands. After dropping off her daughters for charity work at the Blind Institute, she pays a visit to a university professor she had met and admired during a previous case. Over lunch, the smitten professor invites Phryne to dinner at his home in Williamstown later in the week. While enjoying a pleasant dinner with her new friend Jeoffrey, Phryne makes two startling discoveries: first, a discarded opium pipe in the park, and later the body of a Chinese man on the beach, later determined to be a homicide. Shortly after, the teenage sister-in-law of Phryne's lover Lin Chung goes missing from her home. Things take a sinister turn when one of Jeoffrey's colleagues is murdered at a Chinese-themed party he is hosting, leaving Phryne to wonder if all these incidents are connected. Meanwhile, mysterious notes in her letterbox warning her to "REPENT" and that "THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH" only add to the uncertainty. Alongside the formidable and fashionable Phryne, this intricate mystery once again features Phryne's three wards, each with their own puzzles to solve: Ruth and Jane, tracking down an embezzler at the Institute, and Tinker, enlisted by Phryne to uncover the sender of the threatening messages.
